Truck Wreck Lawyer Commentary: A Texas woman was killed when the tractor trailer she was driving rolled over and caught fire. Shari Wood Linder, age 50, was driving the big rig on an Arizona Highway when the accident occurred. Her husband, Ricky Keith Linder, was a passenger in the truck and was transferred to University Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
The couple were on their way to El Paso, Texas after leaving California with two trailers filled with automotive and cleaning products, including aerosol cans. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred on the main road between Phoenix and Tucson, and shut down the highway to traffic for more than four hours.
As reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA), approximately 416,000 large trucks were involved in traffic crashes in the United States in 2004. More than 4,800 of those were fatal accidents and a total of 5,190 people were killed. An additional 116,000 people were injured in those same crashes. The NHTSA says that in 2004, big rigs accounted for 8% of all vehicles involved in fatal truck wrecks .
Shari Linder was driving a tractor trailer owned by Saia Trucking, and was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the truck wreck is unknown, but fortunately no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
